FATALITY: FALL DURING PLANT MAINTENANCE
Routine maintenance work on air con system ends in tragedy
It has been reported by the Bradford Telegraph and Argus that a workman has died after falling during work on the air conditioning system in a Rotherham supermarket.
The 58-year-old contractor was carrying out “routine maintenance work” on the equipment in a storage area of the premises away from any area open to the public. He was taken to Rotherham Hospital where he later died.
A spokesman for the company said:
“We are working with the contractor and the appropriate authorities to establish exactly what happened, and can make no further comment until these investigations have been completed. Naturally our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this most difficult time.”
South Yorkshire Police confirmed officers had been initially alerted to the incident and that an investigation is now being carried out by Rotherham Borough Council’s environmental health officers.
