HSE CONSTRUCTION DUST ‘COORDINATORS’ ON THE ROAD
WWT free events host HSE speakers on dust and RPE face fitting
The Working Well Together campaign runs 30– 40 events across England, Scotland and Wales every year. During March 2013 two events are taking place concentrating on construction dust.
HSE keynote speakers, Chris Lucas and Jane Beckmann are in charge of co-ordinating HSE’s activity on construction dust and have engaged widely with the industry on this issue and will provide the very latest information.
Regularly breathing even small amounts of dust over a long time can cause serious lung diseases, including cancer. Common jobs like cutting or grinding concrete, chasing out mortar, drilling in enclosed spaces or sanding wood/MDF can be high risk if not properly controlled.

The two free half day events and exhibitions are aimed at managers, supervisors and operatives. The aims to raise awareness of the health problems caused by construction dust and the simple controls available.
Sessions and demonstrations include on-tool extraction, water suppression, respiratory protective equipment (RPE) and management controls. A qualified trainer will be carrying out FREE Face Fit Testing at each session – Certificates will be issued.
