Police and HSE investigate underground cable strike death
It has been reported that a Western Power workman has been electrocuted whilst working on a power line in Cardiff.
Electrician Tom Owen, 21, was rushed to hospital after receiving an electric shock and later pronounced dead. He was working on a power line in Cardiff at the time of the accident.
Police and HSE have launched investigations into the accident, which happened as Mr Owen was carrying out utility works in Llanrumney.
Western Power Distribution said:
“We are aware of an incident today, January 30, involving a member of staff. An internal investigation is currently under way and we are working closely with the police. The Health and Safety Executive have also been informed.”
