MANAGING ILL-HEALTH: PAVING, ROADS & HIGHWAYS

New guidance prepared by APS, ICE and others

The HSE Web Community – Paving, Road and Highways Supply Chain Project – has posted new guidance on control and management of health risks in construction and maintenance of paving, roads and highways.

The document Exposure monitoring & health surveillance – A Guide for employers states:

“This guide has been developed through the supply chain project to reduce ill health for paving, road and highway construction and maintenance but others may find this useful. It is aimed at managers to provide a basic understanding of health surveillance and monitoring. This will help dispel some of the misunderstanding and myths to support decisions on what is required for your workforce.

Further information is available on HSE web site health surveillance and construction pages. The Health and Safety Executive construction supply chain projects work draws together stakeholders from across the supply chain in driving forward improvements in health risk management.

The work is focused on practicable measures and interventions to improve worker health through partnership with the construction industry to develop solutions together. Industry organisations for the paving, road and highways sector endorse and support the work delivered by this project.”
