Supervisor fatally injured on Docklands Light Railway project
Contractor, Clancy Docwra Group, has announced that a ‘lead supervisor’ has died during piling operations on a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) project in London.
It is believed he was struck by machinery attached to an excavator.
The company website reports:
“It is with great sadness that we have to report a tragic accident in the early hours of Sunday morning on the DLR site at Stratford in which a member of our site team suffered fatal injuries.
We offer our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased at this difficult time. Our thoughts are with them. We are cooperating fully with the Police and the Health and Safety Executive.
The deceased person was Lead Supervisor during piling operations on the site, when the injury leading to his death occurred.
He had been part of the Clancy team for over twenty years. We will publish full details of the funeral arrangements as and when these become available.
The site remains partly under the control of the HSE whilst they continue to undertake various checks and inspections, in order to progress with their investigation.
We have established a confidential telephone counselling service that is available at any time for anyone affected in any way by this tragic incident”
