‘Quiet drink’ in public house brought to rapid halt by falling mobile
It has been reported by the Bath Chronicle that customers were evacuated from a Bath public house on 22nd January after a mobile crane overturned coming to rest on part of the roof of the building.
The crane is said to be involved in construction work on a new Hotel and that the crane had just unloaded a generator when it toppled over.
A pub customer told the Chronicle:
“It is crazy. I was in the pub and heard a crash. We were evacuated because they were concerned after safety. It is not something you expect when you go out for a quiet drink.”
Contractor Galliford Try said:
“At approximately 12.15pm on Wednesday, an incident occurred involving a delivery vehicle to the Gainsborough Hotel site in Lower Borough Walls.
No injuries have been caused by the incident and the site has been made secure.
Investigations are already under way and as a result it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
