Tipper truck overturn on homes sites in Rotherham
It has been reported by the Rotherham Advertiser that a workman is critically ill in hospital after a “tipper truck overturned” on a construction project at the former tar distillery site where a new housing development is being built.
The 60-year-old man had surgery after the accident on Tuesday morning. Resident John Cavill (65), of nearby Newsam Road, said:
“I was out walking the dog in the morning and came across this lorry which had overturned. It was quite a sight and there were bobbies all over the place.”
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said:
“A goods vehicle overturned at about 8.45am on Tuesday. A 60-year-old man suffered suspected crush injuries. He underwent surgery on Tuesday and is currently in a critical but stable condition.”
The vehicle is reported to belong to the company Sirius which is reclaiming the land for Gleeson Homes.
An HSE spokeswoman confirmed that an investigation had been launched.
