FREE TRAINING ON POWER LINES AND RAIL CROSSINGS

ORR demonstration training facility hosts free training day

The Office for Rail Regulation (ORR) is holding a FREE training event (with lunch provided) at the semi-permanent demonstration rail crossing/training facility at the Forestry Commission’s Visitor Centre, Birches Valley, Cannock Chase, Staffs on 11th September 2013.

For further details and to book a place contact Adam Meredith at Adam.Meredith@orr.gsi.gov.uk

The purpose of the event is to:

    • Rail Crossings – provide information and instruction to professionals and managers representing employers who work in or interact with the railway industry on the transport safety risk of crossing the railway at private rail crossings and guidance on how risks can be properly managed within the context of transport safety; and
    • Electrical Safety – provide instruction and awareness of electrical safety in the context of transport and general avoidance of inadvertent contact with electrical conductors owned by the electrical supply industry.

This event is relevant to those accessing farms, construction sites, equipment in fields, utility/power lines etc, via ‘user-worked’ crossings i.e. those not fitted with automatic gates/barriers/lights.

The second part of the event covers safe working near power lines (above and below ground) within the context of transport safety.
