SCAFFOLD FIRM CHARGED OVER FRAGILE ROOF FATALITY
Crown court to hear case of fall death at major snack food factory
It has been reported (8 Feb) by the Leigh Journal that representatives of S&S Scaffolding Ltd of Atherton have appeared in court after an employee fell through a warehouse roof and died in December 2010
Anthony Causby, aged 42, was engaged in dismantling scaffolding when he stepped onto a fragile skylight and fell 12m to the floor below at the Walker Snack Foods site in Skelmersdale.
The firm is charged with breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Work at Height Regulations Act and the case has been referred to Liverpool Crown Court for hearing on June 6. The company did not enter a plea to the allegations.
