FATALITY: WORKMAN FELL INTO OPENING

Police and HSE investigate mystery fall into man-hole

The Chester Chronicle has reported that a man has died after “falling head-first into a manhole” in a village field.

The 37-year-old man, named locally as Steve Rimmer , was confirmed dead by emergency services after the incident at 2.20pm on Tuesday (27 Nov). It is believed Mr Rimmer had been excavating a “hole” on Wood Lane, Tattenhall.

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirmed yesterday they are dealing with the incident and said:

“This matter is a joint investigation between the HSE and Cheshire police. Inspectors went out to the site yesterday and a formal investigation has now been launched.”
