Ladder Association launches course for those managing ladder use and users
The Ladder Association has announced a new training course to help further reduce the number of injuries involving the use of ladders and stepladders.
The course is aimed at those who control the work of others and covers everything connected with inspecting ladders and stepladders and is available through approved Ladder Association training centres.
Upon completion of the course delegates are able to:
- accurately record details of ladders and stepladders;
- identify component parts using industry standard naming conventions;
- thoroughly inspect ladders and stepladders and identify safety critical faults;
- record their findings in accordance with PUWER ACOPs 163; and
- recommend action to be taken when faults are found.

Unique opportunity for managers and supervisors
The course will enable successful delegates to “carry out periodic statutory inspections and complete the relevant documentation” and receive a training competence certificate and a LadderCard valid for five years.
Chris Ball, chairman of the Association said:
“We have consistently promoted the message that if it’s right to use a ladder, to use the right ladder and to get trained to use it safely.This new training course from the Association, which is specifically aimed at non-users, offers managers and supervisors the unique opportunity to update their skills and knowledge in this critical area.”
