Recovery of deceased workman delayed because of ongoing stability risk
It has been reported by the West Somerset Free Press that a 45-year-old man has died whilst excavating a trench on farmland. The trench is believed to have collapsed at about 5pm on Tuesday 8th November.
Emergency services attended the scene but the workman was declared dead by paramedics. A police spokesman said rescuers faced particularly difficult conditions and the recovery effort was delayed until the following morning. The spokesman added:
“Because of concern about weather conditions and stability of the site, the body was left overnight pending the arrival of a specialist construction team to assist the fire service”
HSE and Police are investigating the death.
