LADDER SAFETY DEMONSTRATION FAILS THE TEST
Egg on face as contractor efforts to improve ladder safety ends in comic video
The Daily Mail has covered You Tube footage capturing the moment when a ladder safety demonstration went badly wrong. The video is certainly farcical and has already attracted over 73,000 hits.
Comment
On a serious note, the video illustrates that injury whilst using ladders occurs in at least two ways: (a) falling from the ladder and (b) falling with the ladder when it becomes displaced at the top.
Enthusiasm to minimise the height a fall in circumstances (a) led to the overlooking of hazard (b). Thankfully, it appears that the only harm done was to personal and corporate pride!
