Article explores why SMEs should invest in occupational health services
The provision of occupational health (OH) services are now widespread amongst major contractors but far less so in smaller construction businesses despite the wide range of occupational health issues in the sector.
An article by occupational health specialist Andy Phillips in Personnel Today looks at why small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) should invest in OH and how to decide on the type of services to offer.
Andy argues that:
“OH services can play an important role in helping to maintain workplace health and well-being in this sector. Anecdotal evidence suggests that small businesses can receive huge benefits from the provision of readily available OH advice, providing there is awareness of the issues that motivate the SME and the ability to motivate and educate the small business in seeing the bigger picture.”
