Man pronounced dead at scene following structural collapse on farm project
The Harrogate News has reported that on 20th June a workman died when a structure collapsed during building work at Springfield Farm, near Harrowgate, North Yorks. The collapse caused a fatal injury to one man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
HSE and North Yorkshire Police who are investigating the circumstances behind the incident. A police spokeswoman said:
“North Yorkshire Police and the HSE have launched a joint investigation after a man was killed when a building under renovation collapsed in a village near Harrogate.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were alerted to the property on Cold Cotes Road in Felliscliffe at around 3pm on Monday 20 June 2011. An air ambulance also attended but was stood down.
The 48-year-old man who was trapped in the building was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem will be carried out in due course. We are not yet in a position to identify the man. Police and HSE enquiries are ongoing at the location.”
