HSE has announced arrangements for information and advice on first aid following the decision to close Infoline from 30 September 2011. The First Aid Approval and Monitoring Section of HSE (FAAMS) and Infoline respond to approximately 12000 first aid enquiries a year. The way FAAMS responds to future enquiries is to change.

timetable has now been provided explaining how the changes will affect enquirers.

Changes from 1st July 2011

On contacting FAAMS via Infoline from 1st July 2011 callers will be informed that:

  • Infoline ceases to operate on the 30th September and callers should use the HSE website and/or the services of an occupational safety and health and safety consultant as listed on the OSHCR register;
  • callers will start receiving a similar message when they contact FAAMS directly;
  • by July revised first aid web pages will be in place; and
  • post September HSE will consider introducing a first aid e-bulletin to replace the first aid newsletter.
Arrangements from 1st October 2011

From 1st October 2011 HSE state that enquiries must be submitted in writing to: FAAMS, HSE, Redgrave Ct Merton Rd, Bootle, L20 7HS. It will no longer be possible to directly access FAAMS by telephone or email.
