INCIDENT: SCAFFOLD COLLAPSE ON DEMO PROJECT

Scaffolding on row of houses due for demolition collapses without warning

A large run of scaffolding erected in Wellington Road, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent has collapsed on to adjacent pavement. 

The West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the street and fire crews also attended the scene. There were no injuries.

A fire service spokesman said:

“Although there were workmen there, no-one was hurt; a very lucky escape indeed given the size of the structure that had fallen.”

The site is  believed to be under the control of Potteries Demolition. HSE are now investigating the incident
