Case studies on Olypmics site health and safety solutions published
HSE has published a number of short case studies to promote some of the new and practical solutions used to manage health, safety and welfare during construction of the London 2012 projects.
The case studies concern:
Preventing of falls - during the loading and off-loading of vehicles;- Modular offices - preventing falls during installation of offices;
- Three risks reduced - novel solution for noise, HAV and MSD;
- Manual handling risks - one device to solve two manual handling problems;
- Improving pedestrian safety - effective separation of people and vehicles;
- Preventing harm from falling tools - simple device for personal use;
- Involving the workforce - effective way to engage everyone;
- Safer lifting operations - ways to reduce risk during lifting operations; and
- Monitoring use of hand tools - getting a grip on HAV.
Each is intended to “help others working in construction and inspire further ideas to deal with hazards and manage risk”.
