Lorry strikes bridge triggering shedding of load with tragic consequences

Police have confirmed that a man and a woman have died after a lorry hit a bridge in Hereford.

The two members of the public are believed to have been walking along the pavement when the lorry, carrying timber supplies, struck the bridge in Belmont Road, Hereford.

Police press officer Toby Shergold said:

“Our officers continue to work at the scene as they piece together exactly what happened in this unfortunate incident and we ask the public’s patience as they deal with the inevitable traffic disruption around the city of Hereford.”
