Damages awarded to father following exploding canister fatality
The father of a son who died in an incident involving an exploding foam canister has been awarded £90,000 in damages from his own firm. Builder Dennis Thomson has brought the court action after his son James, 26, was killed when the canister exploded and struck him on the chest, rupturing his heart.
Mr Thomson sued Dennis Thomson Builders Ltd (he is sole director and shareholder) following his loss. Liability was admitted leaving jurors to assess the amount of money to be awarded for grief and sorrow and loss of society.
