LORRY GRAB FATALITY FIRMS FACE PROSECUTION

Two companies now charged with failing to secure scissor grab safety 

JN Bentley based in Skipton and plant hire firm Marwood Group Ltd have been have been charged with health and safety offences after Steve Allen, aged 23, died on a building site on 9 March 2007.

The death occurred when a lorry scissor-grab trapped his head on the site in Midland Road, Bradford.

JN Bently his employer is charged with failing to ensure his safety whilst Marwood Group Ltd is charged with failing to provide adequate information to ensure safe use of the scissor grab.

The two companies are expected to enter pleas at Bradford Crown Court on February 11 next year. A provisional trial date has been set for September 5 2011.
