ACCESS INDUSTRY TRADE BODY TAKES ON NEW MEMBER

Edge Protection Federation (EPF) joins Access Industry Forum (AIF)

The Edge Protection Federation (EPF), a trade body “dedicated to promoting the highest standards of collective edge protection”, has joined the Access Industry Forum (AIF).

The AIF is ‘alliance for access’ representing all the principal trade associations and federations involved in temporary and permanent work at height.

All nine members of the AIF are described as “standards-driven and committed to advancing safety, best practice and competency when working at height”.

EPF members must meet ‘stringent standards’

Comprising the major suppliers of edge protection equipment and systems, EPF members must meet the ‘stringent requirements’ of the EN 13374 performance standard. The Federation also produces a definitive Code of Practice and delivers and manages a specialist, industry standard training scheme.

Comments EPF spokesperson, Peter Bond:

“The Federation has been very active in improving the level of knowledge and competency in the critical area of edge protection. It therefore seemed a natural and logical next step for us to join the Forum.”

Peter Bennett for the Forum said:

“The AIF is all about providing knowledge and information directed at improving safety and proficiency on site. The Edge Protection Federation has similar objectives and is therefore a welcome addition to the Forum.”

The Forum comprises the following organisations:

  • ATLAS: Association of Technical Lightning & Access Specialists
  • EPF: Edge Protection Federation
  • FASET: Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training
  • IPAF: International Powered Access Federation
  • LA: Ladder Association
  • NASC: National Access & Scaffolding Confederation
