HSE and AWD offer free seminars on fume control and worker protection
Four nationwide free seminars are scheduled on welding and cutting fume hazards and control.
The Association of Welding Distribution (AWD) seminar presentations will provide knowledge on how these risks can be avoided and the type of protection levels that are available.
Welding and cutting processes create fume. The fume given off from a welding arc or gas cutting torch can contain both harmful gases and particulates. It is important that process operators are made aware and protected from this risk.
The events are to be held at:
- TWI Cambridge 20 October 2010 Granta Park, Great Abington
- Bentley Crewe 27 October 2010 Pyms Lane, Crewe
- TWI Middlesbrough 3 November 2010 Aurora Court, Barton Road, Riverside Park
- Steam Swindon 9 November 2010 Kemble Drive, Swindon
Representatives from the AWD, TWI and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will be on hand to assist understanding problems and solutions.
Employees and employers should ”find these seminars helpful in deciding the correct type of product to protect their health, by using the right equipment that is right for the job, installed properly and used appropriately”.
