Engineering employers to run nationwide seminars on safer maintenance
The Engineering Employers Federation (EEF) is holding events on Safe Maintenance at locations across GB in conjunction with HSE and the TUC.
The objective is to assist employers in ”getting to grips with key issues in health & safety, including management of asbestos, isolating machinery and selecting contractors“. Over 25% of fatalities in manufacturing involve maintenance work that is the subject of the EU Safe Maintenance campaign.
HSE are focusing on maintenance as part of their inspection programmes and wll be expecting companies and construction maintenance clients to assess maintenance risks and the competentence of those carrying out the work.
