FIRE SAFETY IN CONSTRUCTION FREE UPDATE EVENT

Working Well Together group hosts fire seminar in the Eastern Region

The management of fire risk on construction projects is currently subject to more widespread enforcement by HSE and this is due to continue during 2010/11.

It is therefore timely that the Working Well Together forum is hosting a Fire Safety in Construction event on 7th October at the HSE Office in Chelmsford.

The guest speaker is Mr Andrew P Furness CFIOSH, DipOSH, GIFireE, MIFPO, MIIRSM, FRSPH Managing Director of Salvus consulting Limited, Safety Management & Training. He Chair of the IOSH Fire Risk Management Group and sits on the CLG’s community safety forum. His experience includes:

  • establishing fire safety management for the refurbishment of the Cunard Building, South Western House in Southampton, a timber framed building undergoing substantial refurbishment works.
  • involvement in writing the Syllabus for the IOSH Managing Safely in Construction, NEBOSH Fire Safety & Risk Management Certificate and co-authoring the Butterworth Heinemann publication ‘An Introduction to Fire Safety Management’
  • consulted by HSE on the revision of official guidance HSG 168 ‘Fire Safety in Construction’ which is to be released soon
