Driver crushed after dumper overturns on major drinks industry project
The BBC has reported that a workman has died after a dumper truck overturned on a construction site at Banbeath Road in Leven, Fife.
The incident ocurred on the site of drinks company Diageo where a new bottlling plant is being constructed by ROK. A policeman tried to revive the man using CPR but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Police /HSE investigation is underway. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
A Diageo spokesperson said:
“We can confirm an incident took place this afternoon on the construction site for our new bottling hall at Leven has resulted in a fatality. Our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time.”
A Rok statement said:
“Everyone at Rok would like to express deepest sympathy to the family of our colleague who died in this tragic accident. We have taken immediate steps to close the site and will be providing support to any member of the team affected by this sad news.
We would like to thank the outstanding police officers who administered CPR. We will now be working with the Police, Procurator Fiscal and Health and Safety Executive so the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident can be ascertained.”
