Workman dies during placing signs on westbound M4 at Hungerford
A traffic management worker engaged by a motorway contractor has died during sign placing on the M4. The incident occured on the evening of Wednesday 18th August.
It is understood that the 38-year-old was struck by a Renault Megane as he crossed the westbound carriageway between junctions 14 and 15 near Hungerford.
He was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, where he died. Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the collision.

The HSE information sheet CIS53 Crossing high-speed roads on foot during temporary traffic-management works provides advice on health and safety issues where traffic-management workers cross on foot the carriageways of high-speed roads which are open to traffic.
It applies to works connected with establishing, maintaining and removing temporary static traffic management arrangements. The guidance results from consultations with industry representatives, including the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), Highways Agency (HA) and the Traffic Management Contractors Association (TMCA).
