Workman struck by falling scaffold pole on west London residential project
The Construction Enquirer has reported that a construction site labourer died on on Friday 6th August after being struck by a falling scaffold pole on a west London homebuilding project. It is believed that the workman was in a smoking area when he was stuck on the head by the falling pole.
An HSE spokesman said:
“HSE has been informed of a fatal accident at a construction site in Lancaster Gate, London W2. Inspectors are attending the scene as part of a joint investigation with the Metropolitan Police.”
Further enquiries suggest the incident occurred on the site of the Lancaster Hotel which is being converted to apartments. We understand that a section of scaffold was being struck at the time of the incident and that the deceased was working for a dry-lining subcontractor.
