US crane operator certification scheme prompts review of standards
The journal Cranes Today has published an article providing a comprehensive review of crane operator certification and licensing across the globe.
In the USA a new Federal Rule on Cranes & Derricks in Construction now requires all mobile and tower crane operators to be certified by an accredited body.
In Europe the requirements vary from country to country and there is a new initiative to harmonise regulations or at least introduce some mutual recognition of different countries’ qualifications. Meanwhile, other countries either tightened their requirements or plans to do so.
