Groundworker recalls how he survived excavation collapse
The Guardian contains a graphic interview with a construction worker who survived the collapse of an excavation during groundworks.
He recalls the panic, struggle and blackness before he lost consciousness.
His final remark paints a picture that may be familiar to some who work in the construction sector:
“We got comfortable doing things the wrong way for a long time, and then all of a sudden we got caught – and that can happen to anyone”.
