NASC report shows 30% reduction in falls from height amomg member firms

The National  Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) annual safety report details all reportable incidents within NASC member companies throughout the last 12 months. 

The report this year includes correlation between the NASC figures for scaffolding fatalities and those published by HSE for scaffolding and construction in general.

The NASC report a 30% reduction in falls from height compared to the previous year with an overall drop of 19% in all incidents by NASC operatives. 

The majority of incidents from NASC members involved ’manual handling’. The NASC has responded with an updated version of SG6:10 ‘Manual Handling in the Scaffolding Industry’.

Testament to performance of NASC members

Bob Whincap, President of the NASC saids:

“The statistics speak for themselves and is testament to the fact that NASC companies perform safer. Our safety report is forensic in its detail, we want to be able to objectively show people that what the NASC is doing does make a difference and that before choosing to adopt an NASC only policy within your organisation you are making an informed choice”.

The report analysis is based on type of accident, age of operative, cause, by company size, and type of injury  laid out in chart or tabular format, and are compared on a yearly basis.
