BABY CRITICAL AFTER LAMPOST FALL

Street works reported in progress in the area of accident

A baby has suffered “life threatening” injuries after a lampost fell on a major street in Chiswick, London. The child was rushed by air ambulance to the Royal College Hospital.

A witness said that the lampost fell on the childs buggy. A woman believed to be his grandmother was taken to hospital with back injuries.

A woman nearby said: ”It’s an area where they are re-doing the pavement. I’m really worried and annoyed that the lampost has come down.”

The spokeswoman said the council would not comment on speculation from passersby that the pavement was undergoing work because an investigation was underway.

Police have closed the two roads. A Met Police spokesman said HSE had been informed. Full report.
