Power plant workers lay down tools over scaffold safety
Workers at the Staythorpe power plant construction project have walked out over allegations that scaffolding on the project had been ”tampered” with causing danger to those working on the site. This follows disputes over loss of jobs and engagement of foreign contractors.
GMB official Andy Fletcher said: “The UK construction industry safety record is very good but unless issues such as this are addressed and sorted out it will not retain that reputation for long and people will be hurt.” See full report
