Inquest hears how lifting operation led to erectors death
A coroners inquest has heard how a workman involved in plant installation died when a 1.4 tonne steel beam fell during work at a waste incinerator plant in Slough, Bucks.
The deceased workman was on a walkway beneath the beam and was part of a five-man team employed by Konecranes Ltd to install gantry frames in August 2008.
The jury heard that ”one of the bolts holding a cable in place failed.” A co-worker said he was not aware of any risk assessment having been carried out although those involved had verbally decided how the work would be undertaken.
The inquest is due to finish on Friday.
