Industry body membership applicants failing to meet the standard
The National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) is experiencing an rise in membership applications as clients and principal contractors stipulate NASC membership.
In 2009 there were 65 companies that applied to join NASC and the confederation found that only 9 met the standard required and joined NASC.
The NASC require:
75% of member company scaffolders directly employed- 75% of member company scaffolders qualified to a recognised CISRS level.
- 50% of all scaffolders must be at least be qualified to Scaffolder or Advanced Scaffolder.
NASC President Bob Whincap said: “Companies need to understand that it is not easy becoming a NASC member, not because we want to exclude companies but because we need to set high standards”
Despite a large number of companies not meeting the criteria on their first attempt –these companies have listened to our advice on how to reach our criteria, and have gone away to implement the necessary changes required”.
