Humberside Police have issued a statement concerning a fatal accident at the premises of Garthwest Limited, a carboard box manufacturer, in Hull.
The police received a call at 1553hrs on Thursday 29 October 2009 reporting a work related incident at Garthwest Limited, Rotterdam Road, Hull during which a 52-year-old Hull man sustained serious injuries and sadly died at Hull Royal Infirmary.

Comment: We are aware of 25 fatal injuries during construction work since 1 April 2009. Falls through fragile roofs account for some 25% of these deaths. Action to raise awareness of the hazard of fragile roofs and the precautions available must be a key priority.
