Operator has miraculous escape as Toronto crane fails

A tower crane operator has survived the collapse of a tower crane in Toronto. The incident occurred  on a development of apartments in a suburb north of the city.

News reports of the incident contain video footage and crane commentators have provided analysis. Evidence shows that a failure occurred at the turntable.  

The operator remained in the cab and was treated at the scene by paramedics. He was subsequently rescued using a basket.
