Operator of collapsed crane on Merseyside left paralysed

The BBC has published an interview with the crane operator injured during an incident in Liverpool in July 2009.

Ian Gillham has been told by doctors that ”he will never walk again” following the injuries he incurred during the collapse.

Mr Gillham says: ”I’ve got too great a fear and if I ever remembered what happened I would probably die of fear. I’ve just got to turn around and deal with it, even when it’s something as serious as this, because I could as easily not be dealing with this, I could easily be dead.”

An HSE investigation is ongoing.
