Contractor joins Principal Contractor in admitting offences
Peterborough Crown Court today (29 September 2009) considered prosecutions arising from the Milton Keynes scaffold collapse in 2006.
An independent perimeter scaffold collapsed at the McAleer & Rushe construction site in Milton Keynes and three workers who were on the scaffold sustained multiple injuries. One of the workmen, John Robinson, died 3 days later in hospital.
Lee Smith Carpentry Ltd pleaded guilty to breaches of both the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Work at Height Regulations 2005. The principal contractor, McAleer & Rushe Ltd, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.
Both companies are now due to be sentenced on 23 November 2009.
