Regulator warns of potential structural failures on specific lifts

HSE has issued a Safety Alert regarding recent structural failures on certain Liftlux scissor lifts. The information is being provided so that the industry can take prompt action to prevent a recurrence.

Cracks have been detected that could potentially lead to failure and the Safety Alert details (a) how the machines can be safely examined by a competent person and (b) the action required if any crack or other discrepancy is found.

If no cracks are detected employers should determine a suitable interval time for re-examination by a competent person.
