Regulator takes manual handling risks to the small screen
Australian health and safety regulator WorkSafe Victoria has launched a major campaign on what they regard as the biggest source of workplace injuries.
Television adverts are showing the consequences of manual handling injuries and slips, trips and falls in construction and other industries.
The average cost of treating such injuries in Victoria averages $45k per claim and the average time off work is 10 weeks.
The WorkSafe Victoria executive director, John Merritt, has highlighted the construction industry as a sector where individuals suffer long-term harm from what are preventable injuries.
A dedicated website has been established covering 10 industry sectors, including construction. The TV Adverts can be viewed online.
