One of the largest UK plant hire companies faces prosecution

Select Plant Hire Company Ltd, based in Dartford, Kent, have been charged with offences under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998; and Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (risk to the public).

The case follows an incident in Croydon in June 2007 when a crane driver suffered severe injuries after the crane collapsed onto the roof of the Croydon Park Hotel. The crane driver suffered extensive spine, vertebrae and rib injuries and has been unable to return to work.

The hearing is on 23rd September 2009 at the Old Bailey, London.
