    NEW SCAFFOLDING COMPLIANCE TOOLS

Trade association launches useful tools for scaffolders and managers

Following the launch of new scaffolding guidance (TG20:08 ‘Guide to good practice for scaffolding with tubes and fittings’) the National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) has now made available two related educational tools for the scaffolding industry.

A number of principal contractors are stipulating that tube and fitting scaffolds are designed in accordance with TG20:08 thereby ensuring compliance with BS EN12811-1 on their sites. To help accelerate understanding of these requirements NASC have made available:

    • Free PowerPoint presentation for use by Site Managers and Staff who carry out Toolbox talks. Designed to last no longer than 20 minutes, it covers the specific changes to load classes/duty, boarded lifts, façade/sway bracing, plan bracing, ties, building façades and the responsibilities.
    • Toolbox Talk presentation to inform and train site operatives on the fundamental differences to ‘Basic’ scaffold design according to TG20:08 (as opposed to the previous British Standard BS5973). This is in a pocket booklet format which can be read in conjunction with the presentation. Priced at £2.50 for non-members.
