Massive hydro electric station explosion in Russia
The biggest hydroelectric power plant in Russia has exploded killing at least 12 people. The explosion occurred in a turbine hall of the plant in Siberia. The precise cause of the explosion that sent water flooding into engine rooms is still not known.
The incident places a question mark over spending on old infrastructure which some have claimed presents a danger to Russian security. A Government spokesperson said repairs were in progress when a transformer exploded causing walls to fail and water to flood the turbine room.
