Fatal fall through roof ahead of major development in the Midlands

A surveyor examining a roof prior to demolition and new build has fallen 8m to his death. A second man also fell and was taken to hospital with pelvic injuries.

The survey work was taking place on the roof of a West Midland building ahead of major building works at the site of pipe manufacturer Valen Fittings in Westgate, Walsall. 

An inquest has opened at Smethwick Coroners Court and HSE are investigating.
