Contractor injured as pipe joint fails on water project

Essex and Suffolk Water have confirmed that: “A workman was injured working on a water pipe when a joint failed and he was hit by a part. He was taken to hospital”

A witness said: ”I heard a bang like a nuclear bomb, then just saw this guy swept off his feet. A few people stopped to see if they could help and two ladies got out of the cars and called an ambulance.”

HSE is investigating and it is reported that work was being undertaken by CLC Utilities / May Gurney Services working for Essex and Suffolk Water.
