Construction worker falls into empty tank during building work
A contractor working for Graham Construction is in a critical condition after falling 10m into an empty water tank at a water pumping station in County Down, Northern Ireland.
NI Fire and Rescue Service rope access specialists recovered the injured man in a 90 minute operation. A Hospital spokesman described his condition as “critically ill”.
Northern Ireland HSE is investigating and Graham Construction said: “We are co-operating with the relevant authorities as they, and we, investigate the cause of this accident. Our thoughts are with the injured man and his family and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
NI Water said: “Although this is a NI Water site, the day to day management of Health & Safety is the responsibility of the contractor. NI Water will assist HSE in their inquiries and will also carry out an independent investigation into the incident.
