NEW YORK CRANE COLLAPSE UPDATE

Crane owner warned prior to crane collapse and double fatality

The New York Daily News has reported that one year before the New York crane collapse which killed two workmen the crane owner was “warned about the company that performed the shoddy weld blamed for the disaster”.

A series of emails disclosed during legal processes paint a complex web of commercial and safety considerations.

The Manhattan District Attorney has opened a probe into the incident in May 2008 when the tower crane collapsed in the Upper East side district.

A source close to the investigation said: Indictments against New York Crane, owner James Lomma and another executive are “probable but not imminent”.
