Tower crane incidents and public concern not restricted to UK
Following a recent tower crane incident in Malta a critical article has been published in Malta Today expressing concern that tower crane incidents on the island are not being taken seriously by the Maltese construction industry and regulators.
The article opines “OHSA (the Malta HSE) is too busy issuing “guidelines” and “codes of practice” for the building industry – which, on closer inspection, turn out to be non-binding in any legal sense, and as a result are perfectly useless. Besides, was it not the same OHSA to publicly admit it doesn’t have the resources to carry out inspections on building sites, so that practically every construction project on the entire island is now a gratuitous free for all… ?”
