Workman seriously injured after fall as pool roof caves in

A construction worker has fallen 5m whilst working on a new swimming pool in Westerham, Kent when concrete roofing above a swimming pool collapsed. He suffered spinal and left hip injuries and a broken arm.

Fire service spokesperson Peter Reeves said: “they were using a crane to move some roof pieces for the first floor and a piece of concrete gave way and unfortunately there was a workman on top of it and he fell into the pool.”  The injured workman is said to be employed byTarmac Precast Solutions.

A Tarmac spokesperson said they were: “working at the site as a subcontractor, delivering materials. The man in question suffered a badly broken elbow and is still receiving treatment in hospital. HSE has been informed and there is an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of this incident. It’s too early to speculate as to the cause of the floor’s collapse.”
